Entries are now open for the 2026 East Grampians Business Awards.
The region’s flagship business awards program recognises businesses operating in the greater Ararat area, including sole traders, small enterprises, and larger employers, and culminates in a gala awards night at Ararat Town Hall on Wednesday 28 October 2026.
Council has refreshed the awards categories for 2026 to better reflect the breadth of local businesses and the different ways they are adapting, investing, and embracing new opportunities. The categories include:
- Future-Ready Business Award
- Experience Creator Award (for both commercial and not-for-profit enterprises)
- Bold Move Award
- Made Here Award
- Outstand Customer Service Award
- We are also continuing Business of the Year and People’s Choice awards
Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Dr Tim Harrison, said the updated categories are about keeping the awards in step with how local businesses are changing. “Over recent years we have seen local operators adopt new technology, rethink their customer experience, and respond to changing market conditions,” Dr Harrison said. “These awards are designed to acknowledge that work and shine a light on the businesses that are backing local jobs and helping to shape the future of our municipality.”
Dr Harrison said the entry process has been deliberately kept straightforward so that time-poor business owners can get involved.
“We know running a business is demanding, so we have focused on making the application as simple and practical as possible,” he said. “If you operate a business in the greater Ararat area, we encourage you to take a look at the categories, pick the ones that fit you best, and put your hand up this year.”
The 2026 East Grampians Business Awards gala event at Ararat Town Hall will bring together business owners, staff, and community members to celebrate finalists and announce this year’s winners. In addition to formal awards presentations, the evening will provide networking opportunities and a chance to acknowledge the contribution of businesses across the municipality.
Applications for the 2026 East Grampians Business Awards will close at 5pm on Saturday 28 August 2026.
