The newly revamped Kingston grants program is now open for 2024-25 and our hardworking community groups doing incredible things in Kingston are encouraged to apply.
For over 25 years, the grants have enriched our community across health, welfare, sport, recreation, arts, culture, education, and the environment. Last year, we were delighted to distribute approximately $1.8 million to more than 250 organisations, groups, and individuals.
Mayor Jenna Davey-Burns said the grants program aims to empower local initiatives and provide vital support for projects that enhance the wellbeing and vibrancy of our community.
“We have an incredible community here in Kingston and we are super proud to be in a position to support the many local groups making this such a special place to live,” Cr Davey-Burns said.
It’s so important that grants support our community to determine and deliver what is needed at a local level.
“People being empowered to respond to the need that they understand best – ideas from and by our community – is what makes us more resilient.
“This is all about building stronger, more connected neighbourhoods by investing in your ideas and aspirations, so I strongly encourage you to apply. We know that there are community groups working hard to meet community need, especially now when times are tough – so we want to prioritise innovative approaches and collaboration.”
After a detailed review, including two rounds of community consultation, the grants program has been revamped and streamlined this year, making it even more inclusive and most importantly, fair.
“We heard loud and clear that we need to reduce red tape and offer a more straightforward application process and that has been a key focus of the changes,” Cr Davey-Burns said.
“Consolidating the previous ten grant streams into five has enhanced clarity and accessibility for all applicants and we are looking forward to hearing from even more groups about the wonderful work they are doing.”
