Yesterday 16 October marked the start of Gambling Harm Awareness Week 2023, where you are encouraged to educate yourself on the harms of gambling on yourself, your family, friends, workplace and community.

This year’s edition of Gambling Harm Awareness Week features the theme, ‘Talk. Share. Support’.

From 16-22 October 2023, you can access free educational tools to better understand gambling and the damage it can cause.

Last week, we hosted a community forum in collaboration with our Consultative Committee on Gambling, including Connect Health and Frankston City Council.

This forum included hearing personal stories of recovery, which simultaneously sparked hope and optimism in our attendees.

Quotes attributable to Community Consultative Committee on Gaming representative, Councillor Despi O’Connor:

“The Consultative Committee on Gambling have seen firsthand the power of education and a safe space to learn. This week and every week, I encourage everyone on the Mornington Peninsula to learn how to have a conversation about the harm caused by gambling and how we can equip ourselves to help someone experiencing harm.”
