A Taree woman has her husband to thank for a timely piece of advice after the numbers she almost abandoned delivered her a stunning $1 million win in last night’s Weekday Windfall draw.
The Mid North Coast resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4758 on Monday 21 September 2026. She took home a total prize of $1 million.
When we called the winning woman this morning, she was still in disbelief.
“I’m still wrapping my head around it all!” she laughed.
“I checked my ticket last night, but I’m one of those people who doesn’t quite believe it until it’s official.
“I’ve been playing lotteries since you guys started and I’ve used the same numbers the whole time. They’re a combination of birthdays.
“Actually, a couple of weeks ago I said, ‘I’m going to change these numbers up’ but my husband said, ‘Well, you never know, they could come out’, and so I kept them.”
Despite becoming an overnight millionaire, the humble winner said her priorities remained focused on family.
“I showed my husband the ticket last night, and he’s just like me. He doesn’t believe these things until they’re right in front of him,” she said.
“Needless to say, neither of us got much sleep after that!
“I’ve always said that if I ever won lotto, the first thing I’d do is help my kids out, so that’s what we’ll be doing.
“Apart from that, we probably won’t do anything too extravagant. Maybe just a nice little holiday.”
Her winning marked 6-game entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
