Targets trained on Pacific 2019

Will Hodgman,Premier & Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to growing our defence supply industries and opening new markets for our local businesses to create even more jobs and investment.

That’s why the Government is backing our leading innovators and manufacturers attendance at Pacific 2019 to further cement our reputation within the defence and maritime sector.

Pacific 2019 is being held in Sydney in October, and is Australia’s only major international commercial and naval exposition.

Advanced manufacturing and defence industries are key economic drivers for our state, which directly employ 18,500 Tasmanians and the Government is firmly committed to maintaining this growth.

Our presence at Pacific 2019 is an important part of our Defence Industry Strategy to build our industry’s profile and capture new opportunities, particularly with the Commonwealth Government’s planned $200 billion investment in Australia’s defence capability.

Through my Government’s Defence Industry Strategy, supported by our Trade Strategy and Advanced Manufacturing Action Plan, we are supporting Tasmanian companies to take their products to the world, which supports the creation of more local jobs and investment.
