Tassie powers ahead

Nick Duigan, Minister for Energy and Renewables

Tasmanian power prices have bucked the national trend.

Minister for Small Business, Energy and Renewables Nick Duigan has welcomed the latest tariff tracker report from Energy Consumers Australia.

On average, small businesses across Australia use 20,000 kWh per annum.

The tracker found power bills for businesses using that amount per year are up eight per cent across Australia. In Tasmania they’re down one per cent.

Power bills for these businesses are the lowest in the nation, the report proves.

“We know businesses, and households, are feeling the impact of increased cost of living pressures driven by interest rates and inflation,” Minister Duigan said.

“That’s why it’s important we continue to implement our energy plan that is ensuring Tasmania has the lowest power prices in the nation.”

South Australians are paying more than $10,000 per annum, which is about double what Tasmanians are.

“We are also taking direct action with targeted relief for both businesses and households,” Minister Duigan said.

“The latest findings from this report show Tasmania is a great place to open and grow a business.”

This shows the Rockliff Liberal Government’s energy plan is working. Our government is doing what matters to Tasmanians by providing the lowest power prices and amongst the highest concessions in Australia.
