TCS revs up Australian innovation with new Digital Garage

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has opened a new innovation and digital collaboration centre in Australia. The TCS Sydney Digital Garage, Powered by TCS Pace™ is the company’s first in the Asia-Pacific region.

Other centres are in New York, Pittsburgh, Amsterdam and Tokyo.

Access to global tech resources

The Digital Garage will support local digital transformation projects. It provides access to TCS’ global ecosystem of academia, startups and technology providers. It also offers rapid prototyping capabilities. TCS will work with partners Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud to develop digital solutions at scale.

Commitment to Australian innovation

Australia is a strategic region for TCS. The company has been in Australia for 30 years and has 17,000 staff. Its flagship global banking product – TCS BáNCS – was developed in Sydney.

TCS Sydney Digital Garage is part of the company’s larger commitment to supporting local innovation. The company is investing in local expertise and new talent. Its academic alliance program includes the:

  • Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre
  • University of New South Wales
  • Western Sydney University
  • University of Melbourne.

Austrade’s long-time support for TCS

Austrade has been working closely with TCS since 2014. Over the years, Austrade has facilitated site visits and made numerous introductions to stakeholders and research partners in Australia. These resulted in joint research projects in areas such as:

  • agri-informatics
  • machine learning
  • virtual reality
  • robotics
  • data analytics
  • cloud computing.

Today, TCS employs close to 4,000 people in Australia. Austrade and TCS are working together to further expand TCS’ operations in Australia.
