Teen charged after alleged aggravated burglary in Caulfield

Moorabbin Criminal Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 17-year-old boy following an alleged aggravated burglary in Caulfield North this morning.

Police allege that an aggravated burglary occurred at an address in Howitt Road, Caulfield North where a red Porsche Macan was stolen.

Units spotted the Porsche and officers covertly followed until the Air Wing was able to attend.

Air Wing then followed the Porsche to the intersection of South and Tucker roads, Bentleigh where tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed.

The driver then allegedly increased speed which quickly shred the tyres and caused him to dump the car on Patterson Road, Patterson.

It is alleged the driver jumped fences and hid behind a water tank but was spotted by the Air Wing who guided in ground units to arrest the hidden teen.

The boy was charged with:

• aggravated burglary

• theft of a motor vehicle

• dangerous driving whilst being pursued by police

• reckless conduct endangering serious injury

• wilful damage

• going equipped to steal

• commit an indictable offence whilst on bail

• drive whilst disqualified

He will appear at a children’s court.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the aggravated burglary that occurred on Chaddesley Avenue, St Kilda East this morning and are yet to determine if they are linked.
