Teen charged over Chatswood stabbing, NSW

A teenager has been charged over the alleged stabbing of a man in Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

About 12.30pm on Thursday 3 January 2019, emergency services were called to a religious centre on Greville Street, near Fullers Road, Chatswood, following reports of a stabbing in the driveway of the centre.

The two injured men – aged 24 and 30 – were taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The 24-year-old man died in hospital and the 30-year-old man received treatment for a minor injury and has since been discharged.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and taken to Chatswood Police Station.

Officers from North Shore Police Area Command, with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, the 16-year-old was charged with murder, common assault (DV), common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

He has been refused bail to appear at a Children’s Court today (Saturday 5 January 2019).
