Teen dies when car hits fence in Northern Beaches

A youth has died after a car left the road and hit a fence on Sydney’s Northern Beaches overnight.

Emergency services were called to Caladenia Close at Elanora Heights about 11.20pm (Saturday 18 July 2020), and found the 16-year-old youth suffering critical head injuries.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance rendered assistance to the teen; however, he died at the scene.

Six people – five male, one female – were in the car at the time and are believed to be aged in their teens.

The four surviving passengers and driver were taken to Royal North Hospital to be checked as precaution.

The 17-year-old male driver has also undergone mandatory testing.

Caladenia Close is expected to be closed for some hours while the Crash Investigation Unit examines the scene.
