Telstra members’ update on COVID

CPSU

This week, Telstra announced its proposal for two further changes to the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.

The CPSU is currently consulting with members on the proposed changes that include:

1. Exemption after testing positive

Telstra has notified us it also intends to update the policy to include the latest health advice on vaccination exemptions. Telstra has advised that based on guidance from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI), vaccinations can be deferred for up to 4 months if you’ve tested positive for COVID.

2. Novavax option for employees who must be vaccinated to perform their role

  • On January 20, Australia’s TGA approved the Novavax coronavirus vaccine for use in adults (aged 18 years and over). Novavax is expected to be distributed in Australia from late February 2022.
  • For any unvaccinated employees who must be vaccinated to perform their role, and who wish to use Novavax, these employees must book a Novavax (or other approved) vaccination appointment within 7 days of Novavax appointments being available in their State/Territory. Telstra’s People Leaders will be responsible for ensuring that this occurs.
  • Failure to make a Novavax (or other approved) vaccination appointment within 7 days of such appointments being available will be managed under Telstra’s Code of Conduct.

We invite you to email your feedback, concerns and questions to [email protected] by Tuesday, 8 February so we can raise these with Telstra.
