Tender open for market access panel

Department of Agriculture and Water Resources

A request for tender to join the Scientific and Technical Market Access Panel has been published by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment on AusTender.

Deputy Secretary Andrew Tongue said the panel was an opportunity for the department to engage external expertise to assist in improving market access for Australian producers.

“We’re looking for people with scientific and technical market access expertise to boost the department’s capacity in accelerating negotiations of technical agreements with trading partners,” Mr Tongue said.

“By reaching out to the best and the brightest, we can speed up the department’s market access priorities.

“This will reduce the time it takes to negotiate new and improved market access for Australian producers.

“We’re looking for people with experience in technical market access, phytosanitary and sanitary issues, domestic and international biosecurity matters, operational assessments, and cooperation and capacity building projects.

“This gathering of scientific expertise is through the Agri-Business Expansion Initiative, which is a broader commitment by the Australian Government to expand export markets.

“By improving market access for producers, we can better support exports, building the agriculture sector’s ability to become a $100 billion industry by 2030.”
