- Expanded community-based renal dialysis program to boost services
- Supporting more patients with timely access to renal dialysis
- Providing dialysis services in the home and potentially across more clinic locations
The Cook Government is expanding its contracted community-based renal dialysis program to support those with kidney disease.
A community-based dialysis services tender is now open, representing a significant milestone to expand and evolve dialysis services to meet future demand and ensure ongoing delivery of high-quality and timely care to patients across Western Australia.
The tender is seeking offers for the provision of community-based renal dialysis services, including satellite dialysis units within the Perth metropolitan area and in the Wheatbelt, and provision of a state-wide home-based dialysis program.
Significant progress has been made over the past two years in increasing renal services in WA, with hundreds of additional dialysis treatment sessions being introduced in both community and hospital settings.
North Metropolitan Health Service is leading the procurement process to select a provider for the community-based renal dialysis program on behalf of other health service providers to enable a more efficient and streamlined approach.
As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
“The release of this tender is a significant step towards improving renal dialysis care in WA, with more in-clinic dialysis capacity made available, while also supporting people being able to receive dialysis in the comfort of their own homes.
“Home-based services provide people with greater choice for deciding when to undergo their dialysis treatment and can be more easily based around their preferred lifestyle and routine.
“We recognise how challenging it can be for people with kidney disease and these additional and enhanced services will assist those requiring dialysis.”
