The $11 million redevelopment of Exeter High School is gathering pace with the release of the construction tender as the Rockliff Liberal Government delivers on its long-term plan.
Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, said the redevelopment, designed by Tasmanian firm Morrison & Breytenbach Architects, is part of the Government’s $255 million investment in education facilities across the state.
“The upgraded facilities at Exeter High School include new Years 7-8 and 9-10 learning hubs, new outdoor breakout areas, refurbished student bathrooms, a new outdoor courtyard beside the library, kitchen upgrade, a new bus shelter and replacement of uneven paved areas,” Minister Jaensch said.
Liberal Member for Bass, Simon Wood, said these upgrades are so important to the Exeter High School community and it is fantastic to see this redevelopment reaching the next phase.
“The Rockliff Liberal Government is delivering what matters for all Tasmanians by investing in the education infrastructure our students need to thrive,” Mr Wood said.
Subject to the outcomes of the tender process, works at are expected to begin at Exeter High School in 2024 and be completed in 2025.
The scope of works has been shaped by extensive consultation with students, staff, and the broader community in 2021.
