Practicing Mindfulness is a therapeutic technique that can help you manage and prevent feelings of depression, stress, anxiety, or discontent. It’s a way of paying attention to the things that are happening around you and the emotions inside you.

A recent study has shown that practicing therapies such as Mindfulness, often enhance the effectiveness of cancer treatments and improve overall wellbeing for patients during and after treatment.

Our Life Now program aims to improve the quality of life and treatment outcomes for people affected by cancer by offering access to evidence-based supportive cancer care activities.

If you experience anxiety or depression after a cancer diagnosis, you are not alone

At any stage after a cancer diagnosis, you may experience stress and feel a range of emotions such as shock, fear, anger and anxiety.

Staying well during and after cancer is important, as when your mental health needs are met, you are in a better position to manage the demands of treatment.

The benefits of Mindfulness-based practices for cancer patients during and after recovery

Cancer treatments can be physically and emotionally taxing. The uncertainty of treatment outcomes, side effects, and the impact on daily life often contribute to high levels of stress.

Mindfulness practices can provide a much-needed respite from these stressors and have been extensively studied for their benefits in managing feelings of anxiety and depression in cancer patients both during and after treatment.

For cancer patients, Mindfulness practices offer a way to break the cycle of anxious thoughts that can worsen stress and negatively impact health.

Through regular practice, patients learn to observe their thoughts and feelings without becoming overwhelmed by them.

By improving patients’ ability to cope with the physical and emotional demands of cancer care, mindfulness can contribute to better overall treatment outcomes.

Life Now’s mind-body courses are evidence based, and can help to reduce feelings of anxiety and stress

Our Life Now program offers a range of mind-body courses, including Mindfulness, that are evidenced based and can help to reduce these feelings of anxiety and stress.

These courses provide physiological, psychological and social support to people with cancer and their primary carers.

Our courses are free of charge for people affected by cancer and their primary carers, thanks to generous community donations.

All courses are delivered by experienced facilitators in a safe and supportive environment.

For details of all upcoming Life Now Program courses, please see our Event Calendar or download our Life Now Term 4 Poster.
