A third man has been charged over the alleged kidnapping of another man during a home invasion in Sydney’s south earlier this year.
About 4pm on Wednesday 9 June 2021, officers attached to St George Police Area Command attended a home at Bonney Street, Sans Souci, following reports a man had been abducted.
Police were told, a group of men forced their way into the house and confronted the occupants including a woman and a 44-year-old man.
The man was allegedly then forced into a vehicle outside.
A short time later a car matching the description of the vehicle was located on fire at Bankstown.
A crime scene was established by local police before detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Bennison.
Investigators subsequently located the 44-year old man in Padstow suffering minor injuries that evening.
Two men – aged 21 and 23 – have previously been charged over their alleged involvement in the incident and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Greenacre just before 11am yesterday (Wednesday 29 September 2021).
During a search of the property police seized clothing and a vehicle of interest, both of which will undergo further forensic examination.
A 24-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence-weapon, take and detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
Police will allege in court the man was one of three who kidnapped and detained another man in Sans Souci earlier this year.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Thursday 30 September 2021).
