Threats made to burn down Gosford club; man charged, NSW

A man will face court today after allegedly threatening to set a business on fire overnight.

About 9.30pm on Tuesday 20 August 2019, a 66-year-old man was ejected from licensed premises on the Central Coast Highway, West Gosford, due to intoxication.

Police will allege the man later returned to the venue with flammable liquid and threatened to set the building alight.

Security intervened and the man was escorted from the premises.

Police from Brisbane Water Police District arrived a short time later and arrested the man.

He was taken to Gosford Police Station before being transferred to Gosford Hospital for treatment.

He’s since been released and taken back to the station where he was charged with:

  • Armed with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Common assault
  • Destroy/damage property with intent to injure

The East Gosford man was refused bail to face Gosford Local Court today (Wednesday 21 August 2019).
