Three boys arrested after home invasion in Ballarat

Three boys have been arrested after allegedly committing an aggravated home invasion in Ballarat East on 27 September.

During the incident, police allege the boys entered the Ballarat East home in the early hours of the morning, before assaulting a male resident with a weapon. The trio allegedly stole a range of household items including a PlayStation, computer modem and phones. They were last seen speeding away from the home in a blue Volkswagen Passat station wagon.

Police also allege the boys were involved in a street robbery in Clyde later that day.

Following an extensive investigation led by Western Region Crime Squad detectives, all three boys were arrested this week in different locations across Victoria and NSW.

• A 17-year-old NSW boy was charged with aggravated home invasion with offensive weapon, recklessly cause injury, theft, handle stolen goods and robbery. He was bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

• A 16-year-old Officer boy was charged with aggravated home invasion with offensive weapon, recklessly cause injury, theft, handle stolen goods, robbery and commit indictable offence whilst on bail. He was remanded before being bailed by a children’s court last month. He will re-appear at court at a later date.

• A 16-year-old Botanic Ridge boy was charged with theft, handle stolen goods, threats to inflict serious injury, commit indictable offence whilst on bail. He was bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

Police also recovered the blue Volkswagen which was allegedly stolen from NSW.
