Three hospitalised after vehicle collision in Panania

Three teenagers were taken to hospital as a result of a serious vehicle collision in Sydney’s south west yesterday.

About 2.50pm (Saturday 6 July 2019), a Ford Falcon was travelling in a westerly direction along Tompson Road, Panania.

At the intersection of Victor Avenue, a Hyundai i30 commenced a right turn into Tompson Road. The vehicles collided, resulting in the Ford mounting the gutter and hitting a tree.

The tree snapped at the base, landing on the roof of the Ford as it came to rest nearby.

Emergency services were called to the scene and paramedics treated the 18-year-old driver of the Ford for serious spinal and pelvic injuries. He was transported to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Two passengers were also treated at the scene for their injuries. A 19-year-old woman suffered a dislocated and fractured wrist while an 18-year-old woman was treated for soft tissue injuries. Both were conveyed to Liverpool Hospital.

The 67-year-old driver of the other vehicle and his passenger, a 24-year-old man were both uninjured.

The older man was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene with the assistance of Traffic and Highway Patrol.

The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended and seized the Ford for further mechanical examination.
