Time your waste run to maximise voucher use

Last financial year’s waste vouchers can still be used at Logan’s waste transfer stations until the 2020/21 vouchers are issued.

Logan residents without waste vouchers are encouraged to delay their trip to the city’s waste transfer stations over the next few weeks.

Ratepayers of residential properties with a bin service in the City of Logan receive four free waste vouchers each year.

Vouchers for 2020/2021 will be sent out with the next round of rates notices.

The 2019/2020 vouchers remain valid through to Friday, July 31, 2020, or up until when the new 2020/2021 vouchers are issued.

Logan City Council Mayor Darren Power recently announced that Council’s 2020/2021 Budget would be handed down on Monday, July 20.

While the date complies with all legislative requirements, it is about a month later than in previous years, largely due to the challenging current economic climate and the late declaration of Logan City Council after the recent Local Government elections.

As a result, the July quarter rates notices and the issuing of 2020/2021 waste vouchers are also delayed.

Because of these unusual circumstances, Council acknowledges that this year there could be a short period between the 2019/2020 waste vouchers expiry date and when the 2020/2021 vouchers are issued.

Ratepayers who may be impacted during this period are encouraged, where possible, to delay their trip to any of the city’s five waste transfer stations – Browns Plains, Carbrook, Logan Village, Greenbank and Beenleigh.

Those who need to use the facilities and don’t have a voucher will be required to pay usual disposal rates.

Rates start at just $9 for Logan residents and ratepayers for a small load of domestic waste, which typically would fit in the boot of a sedan or half of a trailer.

A medium load of domestic waste, typically a full trailer or utility, is $14 while a large load is $22. There remains no charge for domestic green waste.
