Transformed Ballarat Station Precinct Open For Business

VIC Premier

The Ballarat station precinct has been transformed into a vibrant commercial, transport and community space, thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Regional Development Mary-Anne Thomas, Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison and Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle today unveiled the completed Ballarat Station Precinct Redevelopment, including the refurbished Goods Shed Convention Centre.

The project has been made possible through a $28 million investment from the Labor Government.

Adding to the already opened Quest Ballarat Station apartments, the refurbished Goods Shed Convention Centre is an exciting new venue that will host cultural and social events. The Centre boasts multi-purpose facilities, including a 240-person event space, meeting rooms and a theatre.

The Goods Shed will be managed by renowned hospitality experts The Atlantic Group, who bring decades of experience running some of Victoria’s most premium event spaces.

Originally built in 1862, the Ballarat Station is one of only three surviving nineteenth century station buildings in Australia to retain a train hall. The transformation of the Ballarat Station Precinct preserves its historical significance while creating jobs and tourism opportunities.

The station redevelopment includes a public plaza, a multilevel carpark with more than 400 free spaces, an additional 150 car parks for the Quest Ballarat Station, the Goods Shed Convention Centre and a bus interchange.

The project is part of the Government’s almost $30 billion investment in rural and regional Victoria since 2015. More information can be found at www.rdv.vic.gov.au/ballaratstation.
