South Australia Police have today informed 160 people that they may leave self-quarantine immediately.
Approximately 550 people entered South Australia from New South Wales yesterday, 20 December, and were directed to self-quarantine (not supervised medi-hotel).
Some of those people were required to self-quarantine for 14 days due to the requirements of Cross Border Travel Direction No. 24.
Today SA Police is endeavouring to contact all 550 people by telephone to reassess their status against yesterday’s quarantine requirement.
So far, as at 4pm on Monday 21 December, approximately 180 people have been contacted, with 160 of those advised they may leave quarantine.
All are required to submit to a COVID-19 test on Day 1, Day 5 and Day 12 whether in quarantine or not.
Police will continue to make the calls into the evening and resume first thing in the morning to reach all those affected.
Police estimate that yesterday approximately 100 people chose not to enter South Australia when advised they would need to self-quarantine.
