Trio charged after stolen car collides with vehicles at Melbourne’s CBD

Police have charged three people after a man allegedly evaded police and collided with multiple vehicles in Melbourne’s CBD last night.

Patrolling units observed a stolen Mazda station wagon allegedly driving erratically in Craigieburn just after 8.30pm.

Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle on Somerton Road in Roxburgh Park shortly after, but the Mazda allegedly failed to pull over and evaded police.

Local units, with the assistance of the Police Airwing, followed the Mazda from a distance and observed the car pull over in Reynard Street, Pascoe Vale South where a female passenger allegedly exited the car and fled on foot.

Police located and arrested a 27-year-old Brunswick woman shortly after.

The Mazda continued towards Melbourne CBD where it collided with a car and police vehicle at the intersection of Flinders Street and King Street just after 9.30pm.

The driver allegedly drove away from the scene before colliding with a truck at the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Flinders Lane.

No one was injured during the incident.

A 28-year-old Meadow Heights man and 23-year-old Craigieburn woman attempted to flee the scene on foot and were arrested shortly after.

The Meadow Heights man has been charged with 15 offences including theft of motor vehicle, reckless conduct endangering life, fail to render assistance after an accident and drive speed dangerous.

He was remanded to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The Craigieburn woman has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and handle stolen goods and was bailed to appear before Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 4 December.

The Brunswick woman has been charged with handle stolen goods, deal with property suspected proceeds of crime and possess drug of dependence.

She was bailed to appear before Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 23 November.
