Truck driver charged after Kew fatal

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged the truck driver allegedly responsible for the fatal collision that claimed the lives of four police officers in Kew last week.

It is alleged police intercepted a Porsche inbound on the Eastern Freeway before the multi-vehicle collision occurred near Chandler Highway just after 5.30pm on 22 April.

The truck driver, a 47-year-old Cranbourne man, was taken to hospital where he remained until last night.

Following a joint investigation by the MCIU and the Homicide Squad, he was charged with four counts of culpable driving.
