Booklovers of all ages, history buffs, and kids who adore storytime are encouraged to explore Melton City Council’s ‘virtual library’.
This week, Council will begin a new online adaptation of its regular Storytime, Toddler Time and Baby Bounce sessions, which usually entertain pre-schoolers at Melton and Caroline Springs Libraries each week. The program caters for babies through to five-year-olds, introducing them to rhymes, reading, and singing, and helping them to develop their listening and language skills.
The video sessions add to Council’s existing library eCollections which include thousands of eBooks, audiobooks, music, and movies, as well as online education courses, magazine and newspaper access, fun kids learning, and genealogy resources – all free to library members right now (non-members can join online).
City of Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli said accessing the library online was an ideal stay at home activity.
“This is the perfect opportunity to discover the many interesting and interactive things our online library has to offer,” she said.
“Why not use this time at home to research your own ancestry, learn a new skill online, or build your kids’ interest in reading?
“Storytime, Toddler Time and Baby Bounce are not just great fun, they help little kids develop language and fine motor skills, so please join in online.
“We can’t wait to welcome you all back to our libraries but in the meantime, there are so many fascinating books to read, movies to discover, and courses to take.”
