CTU, NZEI and PPTA have filed a formal complaint to the International Labour Organization alleging the Government’s new charter schools law breaches obligations to protect collective bargaining. The Postal Workers Union says a proposal that would no longer have NZ Post mail deliveries to letterboxes at front gates as selective, misleading, complicated, and inaccessible. Job cuts in the public sector continue, with Te Arawhiti set to lose 40% of its staff and more than 50 jobs cut at ESR. Blood cancer patients are calling on the Government to honour their commitment to fund lifesaving drugs, while scientists are concerned about delays in the release of the Science System Advisory Group report – until it is released the Government is unable to fill the crucial role of Chief Science Advisor to the Prime Minister.
