Newport Community Hub will welcome Council+ services with a Twilight Wonderland event later this month.

A packed schedule of family events from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday 28 June will help celebrate the launch of Council+ services being available at the site.

Council+ allows residents to do all their Council-related business closer to home. They can pay their rates, apply for a permit, register their pet, upsize their bin – and more – from their local library or community centre.

Council+ service sites can be found at the Altona, Altona North and Williamstown libraries, the Altona Meadows pop-up library, Laverton Community Hub, Seabrook Community Centre and the Civic Centre in Altona.

Twilight Wonderland will see activities across six spaces at the community hub. It will include the Cooked Chook Puppet Show, Camp Fire Story Time, a glow in the dark sensory zone, digital drawing workshop, musical performances, neon UV face painting and more.

Quotes attributable to Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Cr Tony Briffa:

“I’m so excited to see Newport Community Hub welcome Council+ services. This is the last of our sites to launch Council+, so it will then be available at all our libraries and community centres.

“We are proud of this initiative to bring Council closer to our residents. For people who don’t have enough time to get to the Civic Centre in Altona, they can go somewhere close to home and do all their Council-related business.

“And this Twilight Wonderland program looks fantastic. It’s going to be a lot of fun for kids of all ages, so I encourage people to come down and check it out.”
