Detectives from Southern Grampians and Warrnambool Divisional Tasking Teams, alongside Joint Task Force Icarus detectives and local police, arrested and charged two people last week following an investigation into alleged drug trafficking.
Investigators executed a search warrant in Coolibah Court, Portland on 25 October as part of their investigation into the alleged trafficking of 1000 MDMA pills via domestic mail.
Police also seized what is believed to be small quantities of steroids and other pharmaceutical drugs at the scene.
A 27-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both from Portland were arrested at the scene and interviewed by police.
The man was charged with various offences including trafficking a commercial quantity of MDMA and was remanded in custody to appear at the Warrnambool Magistrate’s Court on 28 October 2019.
The woman was charged with possessing a drug of dependence and bailed to appear at the Portland Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
Task Force Icarus is a joint agency initiative involving Victoria Police, the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Border Force that targets those who seek to use the international mail and air cargo systems for criminal activity.
