Detectives investigating the storage of stolen motor vehicles used by criminal networks across Sydney have arrested a man and woman after executing a search warrant in Sydney’s west this morning.
Last month, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad established Strike Force Gillwinga to investigate an alleged carjacking and conspiracy to murder another man at North Sydney on Saturday 14 August 2021.
The following day (Sunday 15 August 2021), police executed a search warrant at a garage in Morden Street, Cammeray, where specialist forensic officers thoroughly examined the location.
Subsequent inquiries by strike force detectives uncovered a criminal syndicate involved in the subletting of garages which police allege were used to store stolen motor vehicles used in illicit activities.
So far during the investigation, police have charged a 31-year-old Granville man. He remains before the courts.
Following further inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a home at Wentworthville just after 6am today (Wednesday 29 September 2021).
A man and woman, aged 19 and 45, were arrested.
The 19-year-old man was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment to a head injury and is expected to be charged by police later today.
The woman, aged 45, was assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics then conveyed to Parramatta Police Station.
She’s since been taken to Westmead Hospital for further assessment.
