Two boys charged over alleged breach of bail after knife seized at Orange – Operation Soteria

Two boys have faced court after allegedly breaching their bail following the seizure of a knife in the state’s Central West last week.

Officers attached to Central West Police District were called to the Orange CBD about 11.30pm on Friday 5 June 2026, responding to reports four boys had been seen acting suspiciously in a nearby rail corridor.

A short time later, police arrested two boys nearby and seized a knife.

The boys – aged 12 and 15 – were taken to Orange Police Station, where the younger boy was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, custody of knife in public place, possess housebreaking implements, and breach of bail.

He was refused bail and appeared before a children’s court on Saturday 6 June 2026, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at a children’s court on Monday 14 September 2026.

The older boy was charged with breach of bail, and appeared before a children’s court on Saturday 6 June 2026.

Two other boys – aged 10 and 12 – were issued move-on directions.
