Two charged as investigations continue into attempted murder and robbery in Lansvale

Detectives investigating the attempted murder and robbery of a man in Sydney’s south-west last month have charged a man and woman over their alleged roles in the incident.

About 3.10am on Thursday 13 February 2020, police and emergency services responded following reports a man had been shot at a granny flat on Huntingdale Avenue, Lansvale.

The 38-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a gunshot wound to the stomach before being taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

Police were told two men, with their faces covered and armed with a rifle, entered the granny flat and shot the man before stealing personal items including jewellery, cash, and a designer handbag.

Detectives from Fairfield City Police Area Command established Strike Force Bellvue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attempted murder and robbery.

As a result of investigations, strike force detectives seized a vehicle from Elizabeth Street, Tighes Hill, last Tuesday (10 March 2020), which underwent extensive forensic examinations.

Following further inquiries, Strike Force Bellvue investigators, assisted by Northern Region Operations Support Group, executed a search warrant at Mayfield, about 8.30am yesterday (Tuesday 17 March 2020).

During the search, police seized items relevant to the investigation.

A man and woman were arrested at the home and taken to Newcastle Police Station.

The 42-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were charged with shoot at with intent to murder, specially aggravated break and enter with intent, aggravated robbery with wounding, aggravated robbery in company and destroy or damage property.

Police will allege in court that the pair coordinated others to facilitate an aggravated armed robbery on their behalf.

The pair has been refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today (Wednesday 18 March 2020).

Investigations under Strike Force Bellvue are continuing.
