Two charged, stolen construction tools and drug items found

Police have charged two people after a number of allegedly stolen construction tools and various drug-related items were found at a Mudgeeraba caravan park on Tuesday.

Around 9:00am officers from Mudgeeraba police station identified a vehicle of interest which had allegedly been involved in recent property offences in Robina and Broadbeach.

This led to a search warrant being executed at a Mudgeeraba caravan park where it is alleged numerous stolen tools and construction site equipment was located. Police also allegedly located two syringes and a plastic water pipe.

A 45-year-old man and 23-year-old woman, both from Mudgeeraba, were charged with two counts of entering with intent, one count of stealing, one count of possess tainted property, one count of receive tainted property, one count of wilful damage and three counts of drug possession.

The identified car was involved in an alleged break-and-enter at a Robina construction site on March 30 where various construction tools including a compressor were stolen, and came into possession of tools stolen from a beak-and-enter at Broadbeach on March 1.

Acting Senior Sergeant Matthew Pyke said the arrests highlight the ongoing focus on ensuring communities remain safe.

“Some people may believe that, given the current circumstances, they are less likely to get caught engaging in criminal activity,” Acting Senior Sergeant Pyke said.

“Our message is clear: we are out there, we are patrolling, and there’s a very good chance that if you engage in criminal behaviour, you will be caught.”

A large portion of the stolen equipment has been returned to its rightful owners.
