Two drivers detected more than 45km/h over limit, NSW

Two men have been charged after they were caught allegedly exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h in unregistered and uninsured vehicles in separate incidents across Sydney.

About 5.50pm yesterday (Friday 3 July 2020), officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting speed enforcement duties on Soldiers Parade, Edmondson Park, when they detected an Audi A3 sedan allegedly travelling 119km/h in a marked 60km/h zone.

Police stopped the Audi and spoke to the male driver – a 17-year-old youth. He was issued an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, use unregistered vehicle and use uninsured vehicle.

In a separate incident, about 1am today (Saturday 4 July 2020), a Ford Ranger utility was travelling along the M4 Motorway at Auburn when it was detected allegedly travelling at 143km/h in a 90km/h zone.

The driver – a 29-year-old man – was stopped by police and breath tested, returning a positive reading.

The man was arrested and taken to Granville Police Station where he allegedly refused to participate in a subsequent breath analysis.

He was charged with exceed speed over 45km/h, refuse breath analysis, use unregistered vehicle and use uninsured vehicle.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 21 July 2020.

Both drivers had their licences suspended.
