Two men will face court today as a critical incident investigation continues after three people were injured in Blacktown yesterday.
About 4.45am (Thursday 14 March 2019), emergency services attended a home invasion on Stephen Street, where they located a 35-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the thigh, and a 21-year-old man with injuries believed to have been caused by an axe.
Both were taken to Westmead Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command attended and confronted a man as he was running from the rear of the home.
The 33-year-old, who was armed with a firearm, was shot in the wrist by police.
He was taken to Westmead Hospital where he remains under police guard, in a stable condition following surgery.
A 28-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Blacktown Police Station.
Police will allege the pair, aged 33 and 28, entered the home while armed, and assaulted the 21 and 35-year-old occupants of the home.
The 28-year-old man has since been charged with special aggravated commit indictable offence in dwelling and break out-weapon, special aggravated commit indictable offence in dwelling & break out-wound, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The 33-year-old man was charged with special aggravated enter dwelling within & break out-dangerous weapon, with special aggravated enter dwelling within & break out-wound, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Both were refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Friday 15 March 2019).
Inquiries are continuing by a Critical Incident Team into the incident, and the discharge of a police firearm.
