Two men seriously injured during home invasion, NSW

Two men are in a serious condition after they were stabbed during a home invasion in the state’s Riverina early this morning.

About 4:45am (Monday 21 January 2019), emergency services were called to a home on Ashmont Avenue, Ashmont, after reports of a home invasion.

On arrival, officers from Riverina Police District found two men – aged 42 and 46 – at the home, both suffering from stab wounds to the chest.

The injured men were taken to Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital in a serious condition.

The younger man has since been airlifted to St George Hospital for further treatment.

Police have been told three men forced entry to the home and threatened the occupants, before stabbing them.

The three men stole car keys from the home and left the scene in a green Holden Statesman parked in the driveway.

Following inquiries, the vehicle was found by police unattended in Grinton Avenue, Ashmont, about 1.15pm.

Detectives are appealing for information and would like to speak to three men, not further described, who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
