Two new exhibitions will be officially opened at the Central Goldfields Art Gallery this Saturday (29/02).
The Ian Tully: Future Farming the Mars Project exhibition stems from Ian’s upbringing on his family farm and includes sculptures, photographs and video works.
Ian lives in Moulemein, New South Wales, and his exhibition explores farming, conflicts and issues in environmental degradation and the all-consuming climate change we are experiencing.
Resourcefulness and creativity is a pervasive theme in this exhibition which will remain on display at the Gallery until 19 April, 2020.
The second exhibition is The Loddon Mallee Renewable Energy Art Award Touring Exhibition, which is an initiative of the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
Ten artists across the Loddon Mallee region have created works of art inspired by their vision of a renewable energy future.
Georgia MacGuire from the Central Goldfields Shire, is one of the exhibiting artists.
The exhibition will remain on display until 29 March, 2020.
Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said the exhibitions are a wonderful way to launch the 2020 Gallery exhibition program.
“Both are powerful and thought-provoking exhibitions and particularly topical in today’s landscape.”
As part of the exhibitions, Central Goldfields Shire will also be asking visitors to the Gallery to share their thoughts on following two questions:
- What can I do to protect the environment?
- What could Central Goldfields Shire Council do to protect the environment?
The feedback shared will be provided to Council.
