Two teenagers charged after string of break and enters – Bourke

Two teenagers have been charged following a string of alleged break and enter offences in the state’s west overnight.

Around 1am on Saturday 12 August 2023, police were told a number of personal belongings were stolen from an address on Anson Street, Bourke.

Around 2.30am, police were told a 26-year-old woman was awoken at knife point by three males at her home on Wortumertie Street, Bourke.

The males allegedly demanded the woman’s personal belongings before fleeing the home in another resident’s vehicle.

Officers from Central North Police District attended the home as the stolen vehicle was reversing out of the driveway.

The three males abandoned the vehicle before a foot pursuit ensued.

Two 16-year-old boys were apprehended by police and searched, with police seizing items allegedly stolen from both the Anson Street and Wortumertie Street residences.

The boys were taken to Bourke Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence (armed), aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal less than or equal to $60,000, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner/occupier, and deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000.

Police will allege in court the teenage boys were also involved in the break and enter offence in Anson Street.

They were both refused bail to appear in a Children’s Court tomorrow (Sunday 13 August 2023).
