The University of Canberra has made a remarkable leap to sit at number 484 in the 2020 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, an improvement of 117 places from last year.
The results, released today, place the University in the top 2 per cent of universities in the world.
Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Geoffrey Crisp, said the success was testament to the effort and commitment of every faculty and team within the University.
“To rise from the 601–650 band to 484 is a fantastic achievement for the University of Canberra,” Professor Crisp said.
“While we are immensely proud of this result, we will continue to put in our best efforts to improve our research output, student experience and reputation in line with our Strategic Plan.”
Particular measures that contributed to the improved score were citations per faculty; number of international academic staff; and number of international academic students.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research & Innovation, Professor Leigh Sullivan, acknowledged the improved citations as a considered effort by the faculties in accord with the University’s strategies to rapidly enhance research performance.
“The research teams at the University of Canberra are demonstrating that they are producing work that is not only impactful for the local community, but also has globally recognised excellence and reach. These latest QS Ranking results corroborate the University’s high and rapidly rising rankings in other global university rankings tables, and are further testament to the excellence of our University’s researchers,” Professor Sullivan said.
