Ulladulla Harbour and foreshore is preparing for a major facelift as Council begins work on the new harbour berthing facility and related improvements.

The new berthing facility will include the construction of new pontoons to allow for safe and improved passageway and berthing of vessels in the harbour.

Site preparation works have begun around the harbour foreshore which includes the removal of some minor vegetation, and installation of safety barriers and work sites for the storage of rock pile.

Soft-sand dredging of the harbour will commence in mid-April and take approximately 35-days to complete. Hard-rock dredging of the harbour is also required and expected to be complete by the end of June. Pontoons will be constructed along the south side of the harbour, along the heritage rock wall which will remain in situ. Some unavoidable noise will occur as a result of these works. The project is expected to be complete by mid-August 2022.

Clement Marine Services has been successfully awarded of both tenders for the harbour dredge, and pontoon design and construction. They have significant experience in the industry and have delivered other successful and similar projects in Darling Harbour and Birchgrove Ferry Wharf in Sydney.

The new berthing facility is stage 1 of 3 major projects that will be delivered to revitalise the Ulladulla harbour foreshore, improve resident and visitor experiences, and stimulate commercial activities. Following completion of the berthing facility, construction works will begin on the elevated boardwalk and the harbourside carpark. Whilst initial site planning has started for the elevated boardwalk, the required development application is still in progress with Council. When available, residents can view the design and planning documents and provide feedback via Council’s DA tracking.

All works are expected to be completed by early-mid 2023, subject to weather and development application progress.
