UN Committee against Torture to review Australia, Chad, El Salvador, Malawi, Somalia, and Uganda from 31 October

The UN Committee against Torture is holding its latest session from 31 October to 25 November, during which it will examine Australia, Chad, El Salvador, Malawi, Somalia, and Uganda.

The above six States parties are among the 173 members to the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. They are required to undergo regular reviews by the Committee of 10 independent international experts on how they are implementing the Convention.

The Committee, which has received the respective country reports and submissions from non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders, will assess the six states parties on the following dates:

Australia

15 November 10:00-13:00 (Geneva time)

16 November 15:00-18:00

Chad

1 November 10:00-13:00 (Geneva time)

2 November 15:00-18:00

El Salvador

17 November 15:00-17:00 (Geneva time)

18 November 15:00-17:00

Malawi

2 November 10:00-13:00 (Geneva time)

3 November 15:00-18:00

Somalia

8 November 10:00-13:00 (Geneva time)

9 November 15:00-18:00

Uganda

9 November 10:00-13:00 (Geneva time)

10 November 15:00-18:00
