Update: More charges as police continue investigations into alleged drug trafficking syndicate in Townsville

Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad (Northern) yesterday arrested and charged four people with 22 mostly drug related offences as part of ongoing investigations into Operation Quebec Panama.

Police executed a search warrant at a Lillipilli Street, Vincent home around 7.40am on January 23, where they allegedly located a quantity of methylamphetamine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia, cash and a firearm and ammunition.

A 25-year-old Oonoonba woman was charged with six offences including drug trafficking (cannabis), possession of property suspected of having been used in the commission of a drug offence, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of a drug offence (cash), possession of a utensil and contravening an order.

She was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court this morning January 24.

A 26-year-old Vincent man located at the address was charged with five offences including possession of a dangerous drug (methylamphetamine), obstruct police, unlicensed driving and driving an uninsured and unregistered vehicle. He is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on February 5.

Investigations into the sawn-off shotgun and ammunition allegedly located at the address continue with police expected to lay further charges.

Other raids conducted by police in Townsville yesterday as part of Operation Quebec Panama resulted in a 31-year-old Gulliver man charged with eight offences after officers executed a search warrant at a Kent Street address.

The man is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on February 6 to face six counts of supplying dangerous drugs (methylamphetamines and cannabis), and one count each of receiving or possessing property obtained from drug trafficking (cash) and possession of anything used in the commission of a drug offence.

Police allegedly located a small number of cannabis plants at a Komiatum Street, Roseneath address yesterday morning with a 20-year-old local woman drug diverted for possession of dangerous drugs (cannabis), possession of a utensil and possession of anything used in the commission of a drug offence.

As of January 23, 11 people had been charged with a total of 60 offences, including five charged with drug trafficking or supply as part of Operation Quebec Panama, an ongoing operation by the MOCS (Northern) into an alleged Townsville based syndicate supplying methylamphetamine and cannabis in North Queensland.
