Updated Cross Border Travel-Associated Direction 19 June, South Australia

The Cross Border Associated Direction has been updated in South Australia in relation to New South Wales.

The Cross Border-Associated Direction No 18 came into effect at 7.48pm on Saturday 19 June 2021.

The following restrictions apply in relation to people who have been in the Waverley Council area, New South Wales:

• People who arrive in South Australia any time after 7.48pm on Saturday 19 June 2021 having been in the Waverley Council area in New South Wales within the last 14 days prior to arrival (but not before 11 June 2021) are subject to Level 6 requirements and are not permitted to enter South Australia.
• Essential Travellers and Permitted Arrivals (SA residents, people genuinely relocating and people escaping domestic violence) who arrive in South Australia any time after 7.48pm on Saturday 19 June 2021 having been in the Waverley Council area in New South Wales within the last 14 days prior to arrival (but not before 11 June 2021) are subject to Level 4 requirements.
  • Level 4 requirements are:
    • COVID-19 test on day 1, 5, & 13.
    • Not required to Self-quarantine.
    • Must wear a face mask (covering mouth and nose) at any time that they come into contact with the public for a period of 14 days after their arrival in South Australia.
    • Must not enter or remain in a high risk setting in South Australia for a period of 14 days after their arrival.
• The Waverley Council, New South Wales includes- The Waverley Council area includes the suburbs of Bondi, Bondi Beach, Bondi Junction, Bronte, Dover Heights, North Bondi, Queens Park, Rose Bay, Tamarama, Vaucluse and Waverley. IMPORTANT- The restrictions under the Cross Border-Associated Direction no 17 are still in place in relation to New South Wales COVID-19 case locations. The following restrictions are still in place in relation to this:

• People who arrived in South Australia prior to 2:00pm Thursday 17 June 2021 and who have been at a COVID-19 case location at the specified date and time on the Government of New South Wales website https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/covid-19/Pages/case-locations-and-alerts.aspx (with the exception of those COVID-19 case locations whose date is the 3, 4 or 5 June 2021) are subject to Level 5 requirements. This includes all close and causal contacts specified on the Government of New South Wales website.
  • Level 5 requirements are:
    • Self-quarantine for 14 days.
    • The person must receive a COVID-19 test within 24hrs and on day 5 and 13 into South Australia.
    • Must wear a face mask which covers their mouth and nose at any time that the person comes in contact with the public for 14 days after their arrival into South Australia.
• From 2:00pm Thursday 17 June 2021, all people (including Essential Travellers, SA residents and people genuinely relocating) who have been at a COVID-19 case location as either a close or casual contact at the specified date and time on the Government of New South Wales website above (except those relating to 3, 4 or 5 June 2021) are subject to Level 6 requirements and are not permitted to enter South Australia.
  • Exemptions apply for people who are escaping domestic violence, but these travellers are still subject to the Level 5 requirements as above.
  • Additional travel exemptions may also be granted with restrictions as determined by SA Health.

Please note that previous COVID-19 Cross Border Travel Directions and restrictions particularly in relation to restrictions for people arriving from Victoria are still in place and people will continue to be bound by those requirements unless directed otherwise by an Authorised Officer.

This Direction should be read in conjunction with the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel-General) (COVID-19) Direction 2021.

The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel – Associated Direction No 17)(COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel – Associated Direction No 18)(COVID-19) Direction 2021.
