UQ researcher awarded $5 million from NHMRC Synergy Grants

University of Queensland

University of Queensland researcher Professor Abdullah Mamun has been awarded $5 million from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Synergy Grants scheme to address health challenges in collaboration with Indigenous communities.

Professor Mamun will partner with communities to adopt a life course approach – a framework that considers both individual and societal experiences across a person’s life – to help detect, prevent, manage, and ultimately end rheumatic heart disease in Indigenous populations.

NHMRC Synergy Grants support collaborative, multidisciplinary research led by diverse teams to tackle major health challenges, from early discovery to translation.
