Mildura Rural City Council is entering the final stages of the CBD Urban Regener8 Project, with the latest trees to be planted throughout April and May.

Council will plant a combination of Chinese Pistachios and Angophoras in the following areas due to their suitability to the local environment:

  • Langtree Avenue – between Ninth and Tenth Streets
  • Ninth Street – between Lime and Pine Avenues

Regener8 is a comprehensive program of works aimed at providing more shade, better amenity, better access and a generally more attractive and inviting precinct for locals, businesses and visitors.

Once complete, Council will have approximately 500 new trees in Mildura’s CBD as part of the initiative.

The project has been made possible thanks to $300,000 in funding from the Victorian Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund, with Councillor for Environmental & Sustainability Jason Modica saying the Project had already delivered several benefits to Mildura’s CBD area.

“Planting additional trees has brought more shade and improved the look and appeal of the CBD,” Cr Modica said.

“It’s really pleasing to see this transformative suite of works reach their conclusion.”

Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay tuned to Council’s social media and other channels for updates on the plantings, including any traffic management requirements that may be in place.

Initial planning and preparation works will commence later this week, with Council’s Parks and Gardens team working closely with nearby businesses and pedestrians to keep them informed.
