Urban road projects update

The reconstruction of Horsham’s Federation Avenue is progressing, with the final seal on part of the busy residential street laid on Friday.

The road has been completely rebuilt between and McDowell Court and Mintern Crescent and works to reconstruct between Kalimna Avenue and Drummond Street will continue over the coming months.

The replacement of drainage pits, nature strips and kerb and channel is also part of the works.

Horsham Rural City Council Infrastructure Services Director John Martin thanked nearby residents for their patience during the period of disruption.

“This is an important project to meet current and future needs at this location,” Mr Martin said.

“Council appreciates the community’s ongoing support during the works. We are pleased that so far this major project for the community are progressing well.

“The end result will be a new and improved pavement and better drainage that will help keep the road in good condition for decades to come,” he said.

Meanwhile roadworks are continuing in Johnson Street, between Tucker Street and Culliver Street.

The kerb and channel replacement was completed this week, and the contractors will soon start the removal of the old road pavement, making way for the reconstruction.

Council is also preparing for major works on Fechler Avenue.

Nearby residents have been notified and reconstruction works will start in the coming weeks.
