Urgent action needed to stop Labor’s VCE blunders

Liberal Party Victoria

Education Minister Ben Carroll needs to intervene to stop the exam errors that are unfairly disadvantaging VCE students.

The VCE Chinese Second Language exam was mistakenly leaked to at least six students last week – 10 days before it is scheduled to be held – resulting in details of the exam paper’s contents being posted online.

It follows a total of eight errors having been identified across four separate VCE exam papers, forcing an apology by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCCA).

Despite confirming the latest error, the Education Minister said the exam paper would not be reissued, placing hundreds of students at an unfair disadvantage.

Shadow Minister for Education, Jess Wilson, said: “This is yet another VCE exam blunder. Exams are stressful enough for students without these continued mistakes.

“The Minister has admitted to this error, the VCAA has failed to act and as a consequence hundreds of students will be at a disadvantage.

“Ben Carroll must step in and ensure the exam paper is reissued so students have the level playing field they deserve.”
