UUMV and attempted robbery in Nundah, QLD

A man has been charged by police following the alleged dangerous operation of a vehicle and an attempted robbery overnight.

At 6pm yesterday evening a man has attended an address on Bellbird Park, Inala where he has stolen a Toyota station wagon while the owner of the vehicle was unpacking the car.

The vehicle was later sighted by Polair travelling on the wrong side of Edinburgh Castle Road at Kedron with it’s lights off at 7.10pm.

The man continued to drive dangerously before parking the vehicle on Binowee Street, Aspley.

It will be alleged he alighted from the vehicle and attempted to steal another car, removing the driver of that vehicle with force.

A neighbour has come to the drivers aid and the pair have attempted to stop the man from driving away.

As a result, he has run back to the original stolen vehicle and driven at police who had now arrived at the scene.

The man continued to drive dangerously along the inbound lanes of Sandgate Road, Northgate and at 7.35pm police entered an authorised pursuit and brought the vehicle to a stop underneath the Nundah bypass tunnel.

Two police vehicles sustained some minor damage.

A 26-year-old Kedron man has been charged with various driving offences, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, obstruction and driving without a licence as well as an attempted robbery with use of violence charge.

He will appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court later today.
