The Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA) has inducted the first cohort of assessors.
trainers and managers into the ITECA College of Vocational Education and Training Professionals. The
establishment of th is C ollege, supported by stake holders across the sector, stemmed from the need to
recognise individuals across the vocational education and training (VET) sector with a commitment to quality.
“The ITECA College of Vocational Education and Training Professionals exists to recognise indi viduals that
share a commitment to delivering quality outcomes. These individuals have demonstrated a high degree of
proficiency as trainers, assessors, or managers through possession of required qualifications and also a
commitment to ongoing professional development,” said Mr Troy Williams, ITECA Chief Executive.
Those admitted to the ITECA C ollege of Vocational Education and Training Professionals are bestowed one
of two credentials to recognise their commitment to quality, these being.
CEP Certified Education Professional
CEM Certified Education Manager
Importantly, the CEP and CEM credentials align with key regulatory standards enforced by the Australian
Skills Quality Agency (ASQA) and other VET sector regulators, which helps Register ed Training Organisations
(RTO ) demonstrate compliance.
“These credentials provide a tangible way for individual professionals to demonstrate their mastery as
assessors, trainers and managers, and set s them apart from their colleagues in the VET sector,” Mr
Williams said.
The first cohort of inductees into the ITECA College of Vocational Education and Training Professionals
come from across the country, and from training providers of all sizes. The industry sectors they work in are
as diverse as their exper ience; and they share a passion for supporting students.
“Congratulations to the first members of the ITECA College of Vocational Education and Training
Professionals, their success reflects well on the entire independent tertiary education sector and its
commitment to offering students and their employer the quality outcomes they are looking for,” Mr Williams
concluded.
The ITECA College of Vocational Education and Training Professionals is an important i nitiative that
strengths the work of i ndependent pr oviders that support more than 70% of the 4.1 million students
undertaking VET program, including 58% of students undertaking a VET Diploma, 64% of students
undertaking a Certificate IV and 58% of students undertaking a Certificate III.
