Treasurer and Victoria Park MLA Ben Wyatt today announced this year’s State Budget will include $7.1 million for a major upgrade of Victoria Park Primary School.
Planning and design for the construction to provide four early childhood classrooms, and six general learning classrooms for Years 1 to 3 is set to commence in June.
The new building will also provide additional toilets, storage areas and kitchens with an upper level outdoor playground adjacent to the classrooms.
Ground level parking will be provided directly below the classrooms and will incorporate a pick-up/drop off point for parents.
The population growth in the area is expected to see the primary school population grow from 511 students in 2019 to 664 students by 2027.
As stated by Treasurer Ben Wyatt:
“The Victoria Park Primary School has the second smallest land footprint in WA, so has found it particularly difficult to accommodate its increasing student population.
“As both the local member and Treasurer, I’m delighted to see this great local primary school receive funding for such an important upgrade to the school facilities.
“The McGowan Government has been one that focuses on projects that matter and make a difference to local communities.”
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“We are committed to providing children with a high-quality education in the best possible learning facilities.
“More jobs will be created from our investment in providing quality infrastructure in public schools across Western Australia.”
