WA’s biomedical industry will have the opportunity to make a big impression on the world stage with a 10-organisation delegation of WA companies travelling to the BIO International Convention 2026 (BIO).
BIO, held annually in the United States, is one of the largest and most influential biotechnology conferences across the globe, with more than 20,000 industry leaders expected to attend from over 100 countries.
The WA delegation, led by Invest and Trade WA and the WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub, will be part of a wider delegation coordinated by MTPConnect, with close to 400 Australian delegates making up the Australian Pavilion at BIO.
The following companies will form the WA-based delegation:
- Argenica Therapeutics – a clinical stage pharmaceutical company developing treatments to protect the brain after stroke
- Atherid Therapeutics – a pre-clinical stage pharmaceutical company developing a drug to clear cholesterol from artery walls
- BioCina – a significant manufacturer and exporter of injectable medicines based at Technology Park in Bentley
- Health Translation Group – a purpose-focused charity established to sustainably commercialise health technologies derived from medical research
- Linear Clinical Research – a leading clinical trials provider based at the QEII Biomedical Precinct
- One Kidney – a medical technology company developing an artificial kidney for patients with renal failure
- Orthocell – an innovative manufacturer and exporter of regenerative therapeutic products used to repair nerves, bones, tissues and cartilage

- Wrays – a leading intellectual property firm with deep expertise in biomedical applications
Ahead of the four-day convention, delegates will participate in an Australia House event coordinated by Austrade and AusBiotech. WA-based Linear Clinical Research will showcase their clinical trials capabilities, while recent investments into BioCina’s pharmaceuticals manufacturing will also be profiled.
A networking event supported by the Cook Labor Government, SA Government and New Zealand Government will highlight the capabilities of the three ecosystems along with fostering new connections.
International stakeholders will also have the opportunity to learn more about Australia’s life sciences sector at an event co-hosted by MTPConnect and the American Australian Association.
